Nursing Office
As your school nurses, we look forward to helping your child enjoy a healthy and safe school year.
Health Services
Listed below are some of the health services available to students:
- First Aid for Illness and Injury: In the event of a serious accident or emergency, every effort is made to contact the parent immediately. Please keep your child’s records updated with current emergency information and numbers.
- Control of Communicable Disease: Immunization requirements are monitored at the intervals prescribed by state law. Please send in updated immunization records for your child.
- Health Screening: State mandated vision and hearing screening is performed on all kindergarten, first, third, fifth and seventh grade students as well as all new-to-district students. Students in grades 1, 3, 5 and 7 are screened for Acanthosis Nigricans. Students in grades 5 and 8 are screened for scoliosis.
- Additionally, students who show signs of vision or hearing difficulty (any grade) can be screened to rule out a problem. If a problem exists, you will be notified and referred for further medical evaluation if needed.
- Medication: According to Texas law, only those medications that are necessary for a student’s medical care are administered at school. If your child has a medical condition requiring administration of medication at school, a medication permit must be completed and signed by the parent or guardian. The medication must be in the original container and dated for the current school year. The medication form is available on the campus or in the links box at right.
You are encouraged to share any concerns or problems relevant to your child’s health. If you have any questions or would like to meet with us, please do not hesitate to call.
